Real stories of hope & healing

“I feel like a real person again.”

I connected with someone in group who had been through things like I had—feeling paranoia and feeling isolated. We spent hours talking, and it helped me open up. I was so used to being isolated and controlled, I didn’t know how to be around people. Group made me realize I wasn’t alone. I feel like a real person again—and I haven’t felt like this in a very, very long time.

“Charlie Health completely changed my idea of what therapy should look like.”

Before Charlie Health, I didn’t even realize you could have tools in your toolbox for your mental health. Therapy used to just feel like talking—like, ‘Tell me your feelings, see you next week.’ But Charlie Health completely changed my idea of what therapy should look like. It was a complete 180—supportive, accessible, and honestly the best care I’ve ever received.

—Hannah A.

“Within the first week I had already made connections.”

When I first started at Charlie Health, I was really nervous. I didn’t think I’d be able to talk to anyone or feel comfortable. But within the first week, I had already made connections—with facilitators and with people in my group. That helped me feel excited and gave me something to look forward to. It wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be, and I realized I wasn’t alone in what I was going through. That changed everything for me.

“I realized it’s not just me. I’m not alone in this kind of struggle.”

I had recently moved away from home for the first time to go to college. I had a hard time making friends and never felt I could find a place I fit in. At Charlie Health, there was another person in group who had experienced something similar. They were in a big university, and I had a hard time making friends and connecting with people. And I realized it’s not just me. I’m not alone in this kind of struggle. There are other people out there like me.

—Jayleigh D.

“The work I did at Charlie Health was transformative.”

I don’t even recognize that person that I was before I came into Charlie Health at all, and all my habits are fixed. I eat differently now. I stopped smoking nicotine. I stopped abusing marijuana. I work out five days a week now, and episodes just don’t happen. That used to be something that I talked about all the time, but now, I feel like I’m so far removed from a state of mind that would allow me to have an episode. The work I did at Charlie Health was transformative. It was a losing battle for me for a long time, but in just three months, I feel like I’ve been fixed. Therapy isn’t easy, but it’s the best thing I’ve ever done.
